    According to Apartment List, Santa Monica rents dropped by 0.2% in October, down to $2,310 for a one-bedroom apartment and $2,769 for a two-bedroom. Overall, rents in the city have decreased for 10 straight months per the website, with the overall 5.5% drop year-to-year being the largest among the 25 Los Angeles metro area cities listed in the report.

    While Brock’s slatemates Oscar de la Torre, Vivian Roknian seem close in voter percentage (reporting 10.7% and 10.15% respectively vs. the 12.54% needed to claim a council seat), they are even further behind Brock in the actual vote count and each needs more than 2,000 votes.

    “The new council will be very pro development. Expect to see all the auto mechanics on Lincoln Blvd and car dealerships on Santa Monica Blvd, quickly replaced by apartment towers. And yes, that was the point of eliminating the car dealership exemption to the business tax (Local Measure K). Only Lana Negrete is a slow growth person, so it's 6 to 1 in favor of developers and development."

    Ellis Raskin lead the field with 13,395 votes, or 13.32%. Dan Hall was second at 13,384 votes, 13.31%. Natalya Zernitskaya finished third at 12,904 and Barry Snell got 12,806 votes. The top four all won seats on the 7 member Council.

    Santa Monica Mayor Phil Brock and Councilmember Oscar de la Torre will not return to the Council, having finished fifth and sixth. Brock was 1000 votes behind Snell.
