    Locals are encouraged to put on their walking shoes in the coming weeks and participate in one of the Conservancy walks featuring Downtown Santa Monica.

    On Saturday, July 30, the Conservancy is partnering with the City of Santa Monica on a walking tour that will feed into a workshop about the Downtown Community Plan.

    July 27, 2016 -- Dominick Bei had originally planned to seek a unique role in the Santa Monica government by serving as both a City Council member and a firefighter. But he told The Lookout this week that he has decided not to run for council.

    His decision came a few weeks after the City Attorney’s Office issued a paper stating Bei could not hold both positions.

    July 25, 2016 -- If a Santa Monica tax measure passes in November, the school district should use some of that potential revenue to meet daily maintenance needs, Financial Oversight Committee member Tom Larmore told the School Board last week.

    A committee in favor of the current measures has been formed called Campaign for Public Education & Affordable Housing. An opposition campaign had not filed with the City as of Friday, according to the City's election website.

    Attorney Jonathan Stein has informed the City Manager Rick Cole, that he is filing 8,473 tort claims against the City of Santa Monica for running a "nuisance" at the airport. A government tort claim is a condition precedent to filing a class action lawsuit against the City.
